Computer Donations

The Burton School District welcomes donations of previously-owned but operational computer equipment when they can be used cost-effectively to serve our educational mission.  BSD schools that have the resources to make use of donated computers may accept donations that meet the following minimum standards:

For Intel/Windows Platform:

Intel Pentium Dual Core (1.8 GHz) or later

Windows 7 or later installed

2GB RAM

80GB hard drive

CD-ROM drive

17” XGA or better monitor (LCD only)

Due to the amount of work required to re-configure donated computers for school use, only donations of 10 or more identical computers will be accepted.  Donated computers must have only legally licensed software installed.  Where available, original disks or CDs for any installed software should be included in the donation.  All personal information pertaining to the donor should be removed from donated systems before delivery.

Minimum standards are updated annually to reflect changes in technology.  These specifications are valid through June 30, 2015.  To obtain a current version of the minimum computer donation standards or to verify a potential donation’s compliance with these standards please call or e-mail the Information Technology department:
