Mrs. Alafa

Hello and welcome!

My name is Erin Alafa, and it is my delight to be teaching Leadership, Introduction to Agricultural Science, and Chemistry at SCCA. In addition to teaching, I am also the advisor for High School ASB. Teaching and encouraging students to succeed is my passion, which I hope will shine through this year. This is my second year at SCCA, and I cannot wait to see what the new school year brings.

I grew up in Oxnard, California and attended Strathmore High School. My father was one of my teachers, which further inspired me to pursue a career in education. I obtained my Bachelor’s Degree in Agricultural Education from Fresno State, and my Master’s Degree in Agricultural Education from Cal Poly San Luis Obispo.

This year we are beginning an agricultural program at SCCA, and offering our first agricultural courses! Agriculture has always been close to my heart. I have raised pigs, sheep, dairy cattle, and have been active in Future Farmers of America (FFA). Agricultural Education and FFA helped bring me out of my shell, and I hope my students will enjoy the program as much as I did.

I love to spend time with my amazing family and friends. I am also a devoted animal lover to my two dogs, Bela and Trixie, and my two cats, Paul-li and Chumlee. I love to work out, play and watch sports (Yankees and Dodgers!), and research my family’s genealogy.

If there is any way that I can be of assistance, please do not hesitate to come see me or contact me. I hope you all have a wonderful year with lots of growth and success.

“The kids in our classroom are infinitely more significant than the subject matter we teach.”
