Hello BMS Bulldogs and families. I am excited to get to know all of you while serving as your principal. This year marks my twentieth year as an educator in the Burton School District.

I attended Biola University and graduated with my Bachelor’s degree in Liberal Studies. After completing my student teaching in the Buena Park School District, I was hired to teach Kindergarten at Burton Elementary. After teaching for five years, I have served as a Vice Principal and Principal at Jim Maples Academy and was the Principal at William R. Buckley Elementary for the past five years.

In continuing my education, I have completed Master’s degrees in School Counseling and Educational Administration from the University of LaVerne.  Continuing as a life-long learner, I recently graduated from the Doctoral Program in Organizational Leadership again from the University of LaVerne.

While most of my free time is spent with my family, I especially enjoy watching my daughter, Ashlyn, and son, Taylor, play several sports throughout the year and going to concerts with my husband, John. We also spend time hiking, sledding, biking, and playing board games at our Ponderosa cabin in the Sierra National Forest above Camp Nelson.

Hello everyone! I am Adriana Franco, and I serve as the Burton Middle School, Vice Principal. This is my eighteenth year in education. I started my career in Lindsay where I served as an elementary teacher in the dual immersion program. I then taught mathematics at the middle school level. When I came to Burton Middle School, I started teaching math. I became a school counselor for one year, and I am now on my fouth year as a Vice Principal.

Education is my passion! I love learning and inspiring others to learn. I want to encourage and support all of our students to become life long learners. I was the first one from my family to obtain a college degree. I received my Bachelor of Arts degree and teaching credential from CSU Bakersfield. I then went on to get a Master of Arts degree in Mathematics Education from Fresno Pacific University. I received my second Masters in Child, Family, and Marital Therapy from Pacific Oaks College.

When I am not working, I like to spend time with my loving husband, my daughter Alexa, and my son Evan. I enjoy being involved in my kids activities, traveling, working out, reading and gardening.

Hello Burton Middle School parents and students. My name is Fabiola Vasquez and I have the pleasure of being the school secretary.  I have worked for Burton School District for six years all under the direction of the wonderful Dr. Lollis.

First, I was born and raised in Los Angeles, CA.  Our parents moved to Porterville, CA right before my high school years and I graduated from Monache High School.  I am the youngest of five biological children and one adopted sister.  My parents instilled in us the desire to work hard towards our goal and care for one another.  The memories of my childhood were filled with love, laughter, responsibilities, all which I shared with my siblings.  My parents are very religious and active in church, thus religion was a staple of my life.  Our parents instilled the love and piety of Jehovah into us.   As a child, I was inspired by the example of love, dedication, kindness, and diligence demonstrated by my parents.  They are my role models and I wanted to mimic their example.  Thus, I wish to pass along these values intrinsic to me onto my children.

My husband and I meet our senior year at Monache High School during a class we shared.  We have been married for 16 wonderful years and have two amazing children - Felicia and Jacob.  Both of our children had the privilege of attending the dual-immersion program provided by Burton School District.  As a child, I warmly recall participating in a dual immersion class while attending elementary school in Los Angeles.  I wanted our children to experience similar moments, which they will cherish for years.

Next, I am a graduate of West Hills College in Lemoore, California where I majored in Business Administration and received my Associates of Science Degree.  Soon after graduating I transferred to Brandman University in Visalia, California.  At Brandman, I earned my Bachelors of Arts in Liberal Studies becoming the second member of my family to complete a four-year degree.  This is an achievement that I am proud of having to endure the life of a mother, sister, and coworker.  I spent many hours working late into the night completing homework, research, completing term papers, studying, or taking exams.  Although I should have completed my degree many years before, I cherish the fact that both my children were able to witness and attend the graduation of my brother and my own.  I hope the example we have demonstrated inspires them to achieve similar if not greater goals in their respective lives.

In addition, I am a HUGE sports fan.  Not a day goes by where I do not watch SportsCenter.  As you may imagine, each of my teams of preference hail from the city of my birth Los Angeles.  My first passion is for Dodger baseball.  Many of my best, and most cherished, childhood memories revolved around the Los Angeles Dodgers or at Dodger Stadium with my family.  I bleed Dodger Blue!  Additionally, I am also a supporter of the Los Angeles Lakers, Los Angeles Kings, and Oakland Raiders.  Sports are a vital part of my and my family's life.  We devote family time to our sports teams and relish the highs but stay humble at our lows.  If you are not a supporter of any of the above teams I understand, and empathize with your ill choice.  However, I respect your choice and I will not disparage your team; I ask the same in return.

During our free time, we like to go on hikes, visit Disneyland, the beach, or enjoy quality time at home watching movies. However, spending quality time with my family is by far my favorite past time.  My family daily provides laughter and the love we share for each other is priceless.

Finally, I am cognizant that middle school years can be both challenging and fun.  My goal is to be a positive role model and touch the lives of our students.  I hope to share the traits I was raised with: respect, responsibility, honesty, teamwork, self-respect and compassion.  All these traits will transcend life and help one to become a better person.  I am very pleased to be a part of Burton Middle School and look forward to a wonderful year!  If there is anything, I can do to help feel free to contact me via e-mail,  phone, or stop by my desk to enjoy a small chat.  It would be my pleasure to assist you in any way possible.

Hello my name is Krystal Magallanes. I have been with district since October 2012, and absolutely love what I do!

Prior to working for Burton School District, I spent the last 9 years in banking working for surrounding financial institutions.

My position for Burton Middle School has made a huge impact in my life in the since that I am allowed more family time, with much appreciated time off during holidays and Summer break. Working here has been a great blessing to have a job were you enjoy what you do and enjoy coming to work every day knowing and have the opportunity to meet wonderful people and awesome kids!

The interaction with fellow employees is an added bonus; I have been blessed with wonderful co-workers. Although my career path has gone in an opposite direction than banking, I am still in my element of handling money and accounts just in a more enjoyable atmosphere.

On a more personal note, my family consists of my husband and two wonderful kids, my daughter 14 just started high school and my son who is 10 is in the 5th grade at BES. They are both at such enjoyable ages, and I’m hoping it will stay that way.

I love to get to know the kids here at BMS, It’s such a good feeling to go into town and know you will be greeted or stopped by the student’s whether her past or current, and hear about their day to day life or fun experiences.

I hope I can make a positive influence either from a simple smile to a student that is not having a great day, or have the opportunity to just be there for them weather they need help or a lending ear.

There is usually always at least one student daily that has or will brighten my day or serve as a constant reminder just how much I Love and enjoy my position here at BMS.
