Changing Mindsets

Oak Grove School is focusing on changing the mindset of our students and staff, so that we can continue to grow through effort and perseverance.  There are two different mindsets, fixed and growth. A person with a fixed mindset believes that their abilities are predetermined at birth and someone with a growth mindset believes that they can cultivate their abilities through effort and perseverance. Students that have a fixed mindset usually give up when they begin to struggle while, a student will a growth mindset will continue to perservere when the work becomes difficult.  It is important for the brain to struggle and make a mistake then synapses will fire which, causes the brain to grow.  Oak Grove believes that every student has the potential to grow their brain therefore, we want our students to believe in their ability to learn!
