Omar Lopez, math teacher at Burton Middle School, was recognized as one of three Tulare county educators of the year at the Chinese cultural center in Visalia.  Omar has had the pleasure of working as an educator for 12 years, 2 at Burton school district. His caring demeanor towards students has allowed him to develop meaningful relationships with students that have allowed them to increase their love for learning.  Omar uses the students’ strengths to help them grow in areas where they can be more successful at.
